Kana Bifrost Lycaen

Personality

  • Wolfskin blood runs deep in Kana’s veins. While he may seem clumsy and inept when it comes to human norms, he is strongly attuned to his wolf nature, bearing keen senses and a sharp wit.

  • As a child, he would often talk without thinking about his words and stutter. Now, he speaks very intently, pausing to choose his words.

  • Like his father and sister, he obsesses over collecting treasure.

  • He bears a fierce loyalty to his friends and family, especially his husband Forrest. He views them like his ‘pack’ and he would not hesitate to put himself in danger to protect them.

  • Kana is kind at heart, but sometimes his missing understanding of humanity’s ‘common sense’ will cause him to make mistakes. He takes these experiences to heart and grows from them, helping him understand his human friends as he grows up.

History

Kana spent the first twelve years of his life living freely as a wolfskin in his deeprealm. He and his sister, Velouria, hunted for their meals and managed to enjoy their childhood despite the circumstances. One day, Corrin and Keaton visited and finally brought them back to the real world with them. They waited in the Astral Plane for a short time, mingling with the other kids, while their parents finished taking care of affairs. Kana became fast friends with Forrest, but it was only a short few weeks before it came time to say goodbye. Though they were both excited to become prince and princess, Kana had no idea the toll this would take on him.

Until now, Kana had never been forced to live with any ‘human expectations’. He was a simple wolfskin, through and through. Unfortunately, being thrust into the responsibility of a prince proved extremely difficult. Suddenly Kana had to worry about tutoring, manners, and history, and he was hardly even allowed time to transform. As the years went on, this dichotomy grew into an internal struggle, and one day he ran from home, seeking the wolfskin tribe on Mount Garou.

Though Kana almost made it, he was attacked by a poacher and his hunting wolves. While Kana survived the assault, he was gravely wounded and collapsed next to a road.

The kingdom of Nohr was on high alert as they’d received word of Kana’s disappearance. Keaton suspected he may have run to Mount Garou. Forrest, who was already preparing to embark on that route to visit a city south of the castle, was told to keep an eye out. Forrest came across Kana’s wounded body, did what he could to patch him up with his staff, then brought him back to Castle Krakenburg for proper healing. Kana spent a few weeks there recovering, Forrest at his side the whole time, before being escorted home. Afterward, Kana and Forrest kept in touch via letters.

A couple years later, Forrest came to visit Kana in Valla. At this time their relationship officially became romantic, but Forrest still had to return home shortly after. They continued communicating through letters frequently.

Forrest helped Kana to understand the value of his role as prince through encouraging to go out and help his people. Kana started traveling to settlements on both the ‘Nohrian’ and ‘Hoshidan’ sides of Valla. After learning of his people’s struggles, he decided to put together a festival to bring the two halves together. After many months of planning, the festival was a success. It proved to be a good step toward repairing relations between the two peoples of Valla.

Some time after the festival, Kana moved to Nohr to marry Forrest. The two of them acted as traveling ambassadors, offering to their people in both Nohr and Valla.

Relationships

  • Forrest - Forrest and Kana are married happily. As Kana is a wolfskin, he sees Forrest as his mate, and he feels an intense connection toward him. His senses are heightened when it comes to Forrest, being able to catch his scent from further than usual or feeling sensations of touch even more strongly. He loves everything about Forrest and he views his ability to be himself as a massive inspiration. Forrest helped Kana moved past his inner struggles that plagued his upbringing, and in return he wants to do everything he can to support Forrest’s dream of spreading his fashion around the world. Kana also loves modeling dresses for Forrest.

  • Velouria - Kana grew up very close to Velouria, however they drifted apart somewhat as Kana struggled with his identity while Velouria seemed to embrace hers just fine. After Kana ran away and returned injured, Velouria made an effort to understand him, and the two grew closer again. While Kana still struggled to reconcile his wolfhood with his humanity, he knew he could always turn to Velouria for a big, supportive hug.

  • Keaton - As Kana is most attuned with his wolfhood, he also greatly adores Keaton in kind. He views his father as an inspiration, and he loves hearing his stories about the tribe. Kana’s happiest moments during his teenage years in Valla are when Keaton takes him out for a hunt. After Kana returns home from running to Mount Garou, he grows even closer with his father, who is proud of his scars and even takes him to visit the tribe himself.

  • Corrin - Kana loves Corrin immensely, but for a while he struggled to fully understand his papa. Being so attuned to his inner wolfskin, he found it difficult to express his feelings to Corrin and would always talk to Keaton instead. However, as Kana grew up, he made an effort to dismantle this mental barrier he had built up over the years and embrace Corrin as his beloved papa.

  • Dwyer - As one a Kana’s retainers, Dwyer is like an older brother to him. He keeps him in line while also letting him have fun. Kana is eternally grateful to Dwyer both for his service as retainer and for always being there when he needed somebody and at least trying to understand his struggles as a wolfskin.

  • Sophie - Sophie is Kana’s retainer alongside Dwyer. She’s very laid back and easygoing, supporting Kana even when it means getting in trouble. In their youth, she was always helping Kana find ways to sneak out and have some fun. Though Dwyer often bore the initial brunt of the blame for their shenanigans, she always took responsibility…before encouraging Kana to sneak out again the next day.
